Director Briefing with Nikki Robertson – National Director of YB12

We spoke to Nikki Robertson, the National Director of YB12. Nikki has wide experience in managing and leading people and businesses towards real outcomes and tangible success. YB12 offers consultancy opportunities for aspiring professionals and Nikki explains their business model, what they’re looking for in future trainers as well as what the future for YB12 looks like.

Nikki Robertson, National Director of YB12

Eden Exchange: Hi Nikki, thank you for speaking with us today.

Nikki Robertson: My pleasure!

Eden Exchange: Could you start off by telling us how you first became involved with YB12? What drove your interest in the opportunity?

Nikki Robertson: I was a manager leading people in a corporate structure, and being a mentor resulted in my fascination with human behaviour. I see in a lot of businesses a lack of cohesive goals and direction, unclear expectations, mental barriers and other issues that prevent success. I was looking for tools that I could share with others that could provide real outcomes and tangible results. I had also never run a business before so I wanted guidance and direction from experienced professionals.

“Personal development is a rapidly growing industry so the opportunity is significant.”

Eden Exchange: What are some unique characteristics of the YB12 business? How big is the market and who are the clients?

Nikki Robertson: Personal development is a rapidly growing industry so the opportunity is significant. Our clients are like-minded professionals that are passionate about creating breakthroughs and lightbulb moments with people, groups or businesses. They usually work as aspiring speakers, facilitators, coaches, trainers – professional leaders that want to increase the performance, progress or fulfillment of other people.

Eden Exchange: Who would suit running a YB12 business? What type of backgrounds do trainers come from? Do they usually have existing technical experience or are they new to the industry?

Nikki Robertson: They come from a variety of backgrounds such as professional, academic, leadership or people that just want to make a difference. A person that is determined, that has a good work ethic and can follow a system is a good fit for YB12. Somebody who wants to increase their personal development and potential and wants to learn from other successful people is a must.

“The most successful trainers are highly engaged with our support structure and want to follow the success trails.”

Eden Exchange: Training another business to be successful is not easy. Is there a process YB12 follows? What type of training is provided to new team members? How do you ensure standards remain high?

Nikki Robertson: We have a global authorisation framework to protect the brand and our trainers. This is a step by step process that the trainer goes through at their own pace with the support of their regional director. The training is a comprehensive combination of one-on-one strategy sessions with their Regional Director, weekly live webinars, face-to-face training in most capital cities (where available) and a comprehensive back office. Progress through the authorisation is overseen in conjunction with the Regional Director and training and support are always continuous.

Eden Exchange: What would you class as a successful trainer? What type of returns should a new team member be expecting in the industry?

Nikki Robertson: A successful trainer is working with their passion, which is having an impact in the lives of others and being rewarded to do it. The reward could be income or in the form of client impact. In strategy discussions, we look at the mechanics to achieve the outcomes desired from the trainer  – from working with a single client to running large seminars or working with multiple business teams or corporates – our process is very formulaic. In our consults with trainers, we go into great detail around their expectations and what specific activities and outcomes they can expect from following the system. The most successful trainers are highly engaged with our support structure and want to follow the success trails.

Eden Exchange: How has YB12 grown since you first entered the market? What are your goals for the business and how do people reach out to you?

Nikki Robertson: YB12 has grown from a primarily Australian based operation to now having a global presence across Australia, New Zealand, UK, North America, and Canada. We can be reached at www.yb12coach.com and one of our friendly senior leaders will contact you to arrange a confidential discussion. We look forward to hearing from you!
